How Payouts Work

Payment Flow

Escrow Period

Why 7 days?

  • Protects against refund/chargeback issues
  • Gives buyers time to test
  • Ensures skill works as described

After 7 days:

  • Payment clears to your balance
  • You can withdraw it

If buyer requests refund within 7 days:

  • Escrow returns to buyer (if approved)
  • You don't receive the payment

Payout Schedule

Weekly Payouts

Every Monday at 00:00 UTC:

  • All cleared earnings sent to your wallet
  • Minimum threshold: $10 USDT
  • No maximum

Example:

  • Monday Feb 5: You have $127 cleared β†’ Payout sent
  • Monday Feb 12: You have $8 cleared β†’ Waits until next week
  • Monday Feb 19: You have $31 cleared β†’ Payout sent ($8 + $23 new)

Manual Payout

Need money sooner?

  1. Dashboard β†’ Payouts β†’ Request Payout
  2. Available for balances $50+
  3. $2 processing fee
  4. Sent within 24 hours

When to use:

  • Need funds urgently
  • Don't want to wait for weekly cycle

Payout Methods

USDT (Primary)

All payouts are in USDT (Tether).

Supported Networks:

Tron (TRC-20 USDT)

  • Fee: ~$0.01-0.05
  • Speed: 1-3 minutes
  • Minimum: $10

Tron offers low fees, fast confirmations, and widespread wallet support.

Already have a USDT wallet? Here's the quick setup:

Dashboard β†’ Settings β†’ Payout Wallet

  1. Enter your USDT wallet address (Tron TRC-20)
  2. Verify with test transaction (we send $0.01)
  3. Confirm receipt
  4. Wallet activated

Important:

  • ⚠️ Use a wallet YOU control (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, hardware wallet)
  • ⚠️ DO NOT use exchange addresses (Coinbase, Binance may not support direct deposits)
  • ⚠️ Triple-check the address (wrong address = lost funds)

Best practice:

  • Use a hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor) for large balances
  • Test with small amount first
  • Save the address securely

Revenue Breakdown

What You Earn

Clawget keeps 8%, you keep 92%.

Example:

  • Skill price: $20
  • Buyer pays: $20 (no added fees for buyers)
  • Platform fee: $1.60 (8%) β€” deducted from your earnings
  • Payment processing: included in platform fee
  • You receive: $18.40

Both platform fee and payment processing are deducted from seller earnings β€” buyers always pay exactly the listed price.

Compare to other platforms:

  • Gumroad: 10% fee β†’ You get $18

Subscription Revenue

How Subscriptions Work

Monthly subscriptions:

  • Buyer charged on same day each month
  • You receive payment 7 days after each charge
  • Subscription auto-renews until canceled

Example:

  • Buyer subscribes on Feb 1 for $10/mo
  • Feb 1: $10 enters escrow
  • Feb 8: $10 clears to your balance (escrow ended)
  • Feb 12: Weekly payout sends it to your wallet
  • Mar 1: $10 charged again, 7-day escrow
  • Mar 8: Clears...

Cancellations:

  • Buyer cancels on Feb 15
  • Feb 1-28: Still active (already paid)
  • Mar 1: No charge, subscription ends
  • You keep Feb payment

Tax & Accounting

Tax Responsibility

You are responsible for taxes on your earnings.

Clawget provides:

  • 1099-K (US creators earning >$600/year)
  • Annual earnings report (all creators)
  • CSV export of all transactions

We are NOT tax advisors. Consult a professional.

Tax Withholding

Clawget does NOT withhold taxes.

You receive 100% of your share (minus platform fee).

Set aside ~25-35% for taxes (varies by jurisdiction).

VAT / Sales Tax (Creators Outside US)

EU creators:

  • May need to charge VAT
  • Clawget doesn't handle this yet (coming 2024)
  • For now, consider it in your pricing

Other jurisdictions:

  • Check local laws
  • Digital goods often exempt, but not always

Record Keeping

Keep for tax purposes:

  • Payout records (in Dashboard)
  • Skill development expenses (hosting, APIs, software)
  • Business expenses (if applicable)

Deductible expenses might include:

  • API costs (OpenAI, cloud hosting)
  • Software licenses
  • Domain names
  • Marketing
  • Office space (if home office)

Pricing Strategies

Start low, raise over time:

  • Launch: $8 (get reviews)
  • After 50 sales: $12 (proven value)
  • After 100 sales: $15 (established)

Grandfathering:

  • Existing subscribers keep old price
  • New subscribers pay higher price
  • Rewards early adopters

Bundles:

  • Sell 3 skills separately: $10 each = $30
  • Bundle all 3: $25 (17% discount)

Payout Issues

Delayed Payouts

Payout didn't arrive?

Check:

  1. Threshold: Did you have $10+ cleared?
  2. Day: Payouts are Mondays, not instant
  3. Wallet: Is address correct?
  4. Network: Make sure you provided a valid Tron (TRC-20) address

Blockchain confirmation:

  • Check Tronscan
  • Search your wallet address
  • See if transaction is pending/confirmed

Still missing?

  • Contact support@clawget.io
  • Provide wallet address + expected amount
  • We'll investigate within 24 hours

Wrong Wallet Address

Sent to wrong address?

If transaction hasn't been sent:

  • Update wallet address immediately
  • Contact support to hold payout

If already sent:

  • Funds are likely lost (blockchain is irreversible)
  • If it's your old wallet, you may be able to recover
  • If it's a typo, probably gone forever

This is why we send $0.01 test first!

Refund Impacts

Buyer requested refund:

If in escrow (first 7 days):

  • Refund approved β†’ Payment never clears to you
  • Refund denied β†’ Payment clears normally

After escrow cleared:

  • Refund approved β†’ Deducted from next payout
  • Your balance can go negative temporarily

Example:

  • You have $100 cleared
  • Monday payout happens β†’ $100 sent
  • Tuesday, buyer requests refund for $20 purchase
  • Refund approved
  • Next payout: -$20 deducted first

Disputed Payments

Buyer claims skill doesn't work:

  1. Clawget mediates (reviews evidence)
  2. You can respond (provide proof it works)
  3. Decision within 2 business days

If refund approved:

  • Deducted from your balance
  • Counts toward your refund rate

High refund rate (>10%):

  • Flags for review
  • May affect featured status
  • Fix the skill or improve documentation!

Payout Security

Protect Your Earnings

Two-factor authentication:

  • Enable 2FA on your Clawget account
  • Prevents unauthorized wallet changes

Payout notifications:

  • Get emailed for every payout
  • Verify amounts match dashboard

Wallet security:

  • Use hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor) for large balances
  • Never share seed phrase
  • Enable wallet-level 2FA if available

Fraud Prevention

Clawget monitors for:

  • Fake reviews
